Bitburger Holding acquired 100% of the shares of Wera-Group, headquartered in Wuppertal, Germany. Through this acquisition, Bitburger will extend its portfolio of strong brands to the tool sector. With Bitburger now being at Wera’s side, IMAP was able to find a long-term oriented investor.
Bitburger Holding GmbH, Bitburg, Germany
Bitburger Holdings is the parent company of the Bitburger Brewery Group, one of the largest manufacturers of beer in Germany, including brands such as Bitburger, König Pilsener, Licher, Köstritzer and Wernesgrüner. Besides its activities in the beverages market, the Holding constantly aims to acquire companies outside of the Group‘s core business. In 2010, the Brewery Group acquired an interest in Westerwald-based toys and clothing manufacturer Sterntaler. Furthermore, Bitburger acquired an undisclosed stake in Eifel-based Dürr Dental AG.
Wera, Wuppertal, Deutschland
Wera develops and produces innovative hand tools for “screw-in, screw-off” and, due to its inventive spirit, has successfully positioned itself on the market during the last years. The Company employs more than 700 “tool rebels” – that is how the Wera employees call themselves – at its sites in Germany, the Czech Republic, North America and the UK.
IMAP initiated the transaction on behalf of Wera’s shareholder and handled it in all its phases.
