IMAP advised the sale of BAUM lined piping to US-listed Crane Company

Through the acquisition of BAUM lined piping GmbH Crane Co continues its strategy of both organic and external growth.

Max Mitchell, Crane's President and CEO says: “Baum is a perfect addition to Process Flow Technologies' chemical business, significantly expanding the geographic and product breadth of our specialized lined pipe business that serves severe service applications in highly corrosive environments.”

Founded more than 30 years ago by Markus Baum’s father, BAUM lined piping GmbH developed from a small family business to what is now Europe’s leading company for the design, manufacture, and distribution of lined piping products for the chemical, pharmaceutical and semiconductor markets. In the recent past BAUM opened up an entirely new market segment supplying corrosion resistant piping products into the market for green hydrogen manufacturing processing plants, a segment expected to enjoy high growth rates in the future. BAUM employs a total of 220 staff at its headquarters and main production hub, Birkenfeld in Germany as well as in its group companies in the US, Romania, and China.

Mr. Markus Baum says: “The IMAP-Team led by Mr. Burkhard Weber did a terrific job in guiding me and the entire BAUM leadership team through an international sale process comprising strategic and financial buyers. I am convinced that partnering with Crane Co is the ideal set-up for further developing BAUM as part of a larger group, that is also willing to support the future growth of the business by committing capital resources, when needed, to also capture more and more business from the strongly growing green energy production markets.”

The IMAP team consisting of Dr. Burkhard Weber, Ulrich Keesen and Olja Schmitt exclusively advised Markus Baum, the managing shareholder of BAUM lined piping GmbH, Birkenfeld in a structured M&A process through all phases until successful closing.
