Zhongwang Aluminum Deutschland GmbH acquired Aluminiumwerk Unna AG, leading manufacturer of aluminum alloy tubes, headquartered in Unna close to Dortmund. The investor is a subsidiary of China Zhongwang Holding Ltd., headquartered in Beijing – the listed company is Asia’s largest manufacturer and developer of aluminum extrusion products. The acquisition is effected by way of a capital increase at the holding company as well as by acquiring the shares of the employees.
The previous shareholders Wiese Familien GmbH (WFG) and Alu Unna e.V. intend to provide Aluminiumwerk Unna, with its semi-finished aluminum productsand new growth perspectives, as part of a globally strong and broadly-positioned group for industrial aluminum.
Aluminiumwerk Unna AG has 220 employees and more than 100 years of history. At the site in Unna, a foundry, an extruder and a drawing mill are located. The company focuses on the production of seamless extruded aluminum tubes, as well as tubular profiles and is therefore, able to produce high-strength products, specially for the aerospace industry. In 2016, Aluminiumwerk Unna AG generated revenues of approximately €65 m.
Zhongwang Group was founded in 1993 and its company headquarters are located in the Liaoning Province in China. After 20 years of continuous growth, the annual production capacity is now at 900,000 tons. As a result, the company is Asia’s largest manufacturer and developer of aluminum extrusion products. More than 10,000 employees work for Zhongwang. Since 8th May 2009, the company has been listed on the Hong Kong stock exchange.
